The gospel proclaims the good news that, since Christ died for us, God freely grants forgiveness to everyone who comes to Him in repentance. This is not a magical request, and there is no specific ceremony that we must do. Simply praying to God in Christ, acknowledging our sins and asking for forgiveness, and committing to letting Christ rule our lives for His glory and not our own is all that is required.
